Taking care of your smile doesn’t have to be hard. Here are 6 easy things to do to take care of your teeth and gums.
Brush: Brush your teeth, twice a day, for two minutes each time. 2×2–easy to remember, easy to do. Brush the outside, inside, and chewing surfaces of your teeth.
Floss: Floss your teeth once a day, for 2-3 minutes each time. If conventional floss is difficult, talk to Dr. Jody W. Adams about other approved interdental cleaning options, such as water flossers, or floss for sensitive gums.
Eat Well: Caring for your mouth is more than just cleaning it. You must also feed it well. Choose nutrient-dense foods, with lots of protein, calcium, phosphorous, and vitamins. Avoid frequently eating foods with a lot of sugar, as that is damaging to your teeth.
Chewing Gum: After eating, your teeth can be extra-sensitive to abrasion, so try not to brush immediately after eating. Instead, try chewing a piece of sugar-free gum for 20 minutes after eating. This stimulates saliva production, which helps clean out the mouth.
ADA Seal of Acceptance: When purchasing products for your mouth, be sure to choose those with the ADA Seal of Acceptance. Far more than a logo, this seal indicates that the product has passed rigorous testing for both safety and effectiveness.
Visit Your Dentist: Finally, be sure to visit your dentist regularly. This will make sure to catch any problems early, as well as keep your teeth as clean as they can be! If you are in the Brigham City, Utah area, be sure to call Smile 2 Heart Dental at 435.723.6120 to set an appointment!
