A toothache or pain deep in your gums, is a serious cause for concern. You should always see a toothache as a warning sign of a serious problem that requires immediate attention by Dr. Jody W. Adams.

If the pain is associated with a direct trauma such as a blow to the face or a hard fall, it might be that the internal structure of the tooth is damaged. If you have blood and debris in your mouth you can rinse it away with lukewarm salt water. This might also soothe injured gums.

For temporary relief of pain, you can try to rub your gums with a topical oral analgesic. If the toothache was caused by trauma and there is swelling in your lip or cheek you can hold a cold compress to your face for 15 minutes at a time.

In many cases, a toothache can directly be attributed to advanced tooth decay. If Dr. Jody W. Adams doesn’t repair or restore the decayed tooth in short order, it could lead to much more serious complications. It could even lead to a serious infection in the gums.

If you have a toothache, you need to call Dr. Jody W. Adams as soon as possible, at 435.723.6120 to schedule an appointment.
